Hong Kong Chief Secretary for Administration, Chen Guoqi Experiences WeRide Robobus and Extends an Invitation for Company Expansion

On January 8, 2024, the Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Chen Guoqi, and his delegation arrived in Guangzhou. The first stop of their itinerary was a visit to WeRide, a leading company in the field of autonomous driving technology. They also took a ride on WeRide Robobus, marking the beginning of the delegation's city visit to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Li Yifan, Vice President and General Manager of the Smart Mobility Business Unit at WeRide, along with Huang Yehua, Vice President of WeRide, and other company representatives, welcomed the visit of Chief Secretary Chen Guoqi and his delegation. They provided an overview of the company's commercialization and operations in multiple cities globally. In particular, they highlighted WeRide's current achievement in commercial fee-based operations for two urban mobility scenarios: Robotaxi (autonomous driving taxi) and Robobus (autonomous driving minibus).

During the subsequent discussion session, Secretary Chen Guoqi expressed high praise and full recognition for WeRide's strength and achievements in technology research and development, product implementation, and market expansion. He mentioned that the ride experience on WeRide Robobus was smooth and silky, and he looks forward to its broader implementation and application. Regarding the development of autonomous driving in Hong Kong, Secretary Chen Guoqi stated that the prospects for the autonomous driving industry are promising, and there is a strong demand for autonomous driving travel services in the Hong Kong market. He invited WeRide to play a proactive role in enhancing Hong Kong's urban transportation system and contributing to the city's transportation upgrade.

The delegation's visit not only signifies a high recognition of WeRide's progress in the field of autonomous driving but also further promotes the company's business expansion in Hong Kong.
