Saudi Arabia's Minister of Health Visits WeRide to Discuss the Future of Smart Mobility in the Healthcare Industry

On December 3, 2024, H.E. Fahad Abdulrahman AlJalajel, Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led a delegation to visit WeRide (Nasdaq: WRD), a global leader in autonomous driving technology. The delegation was warmly received by Jennifer Li, CFO and Head of International Business at WeRide, along with other company representatives. The two parties engaged in in-depth discussions about WeRide’s international expansion strategy, with a particular focus on its progress and potential in Saudi Arabia. H.E. Fahad Abdulrahman AlJalajel extended a warm welcome to WeRide’s entry into the Saudi market and expressed keen interest in deepening collaboration on technology development, talent cultivation, R&D and manufacturing localization.

The following day, H.E. Fahad Abdulrahman AlJalajel and the delegation visited WeRide’s R&D and operations center in Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA). They experienced rides in WeRide’s Robotaxi and Robobus and examined its Robosweeper. During the test rides, H.E. Fahad Abdulrahman AlJalajel highly praised the “seasoned driver-like” performance of WeRide’s technology and expressed strong interest in deploying these advanced autonomous driving solutions to support the healthcare industry in Saudi Arabia.

As Saudi Arabia's Minister of Health and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Traffic Safety (MCTS), H.E. Fahad Abdulrahman AlJalajel stressed the transformative potential of autonomous driving technologies in advancing Saudi Arabia’s transportation system and invited WeRide to collaborate in shaping the future of mobility in the region.

H.E. Fahad Abdulrahman AlJalajel further emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s six major medical cities present ideal deployment scenarios for autonomous driving solutions. WeRide’s Robosweeper, Robobus, and Robovan can be rapidly deployed to enhance public service efficiency and create tangible benefits for local communities.

In September 2022, WeRide debuted at the Global AI Summit in Riyadh, where it announced a partnership with the Saudi Company for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI) and successfully launched Saudi Arabia’s first dynamic Robobus route for demonstration. In December of the same year, during the inaugural China-Arab States Summit, WeRide, as a representative of Chinese autonomous driving enterprises, signed a project cooperation agreement with Ajlan & Bros Holding.

In October 2023, WeRide was invited to participate in the 7th Future Investment Initiative (FII) Summit in Saudi Arabia. As the sole autonomous driving service provider performing demo runs at the event, WeRide’s Robobus offered VIP shuttle services at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center, delivering three days of dynamic demonstrations and serving over 100 distinguished attendees.

The Saudi delegation’s visit further strengthens WeRide’s foundation for deploying autonomous mobility solutions in Saudi Arabia. WeRide will soon launch its Robosweeper in the region. Looking ahead, WeRide will remain committed to technological innovation and open collaboration, and leverage its advanced autonomous driving technologies to accelerate the transformation of Saudi Arabia’s urban mobility and public services.
