Singapore, June 2024 - WeRide, after a month of meticulous preparation and trial operations, launched its autonomous Robobus, departed from the Equarius Hotel at Resorts World Sentosa with its first group of passengers, heading towards Resorts World Sentosa. This marks the official opening of Singapore's first publicly accessible, L4-level autonomous Robobus route for passenger operations. It is also Singapore's first service integrating manual shuttle passenger transport with autonomous micro-circulation shuttle minibus, and the first to connect a cluster of five-star hotels with a luxury resort through autonomous driving services.

The shuttle route, jointly launched by WeRide, Resorts World Sentosa, and EZ Buzz Pte. Ltd, spans 1.2 kilometers with 4 stops along the way, taking approximately 12 minutes to complete. Hotel guests and tourists can board the Robobus at the nearest stop. Since obtaining Singapore’s M1 and T1 public road licenses for autonomous vehicles in December 2023, WeRide has rapidly deployed the Robobus, setting a new industry benchmark for implementation speed.

Singapore Launches Autonomous Shuttle Service, WeRide Robobus Becomes a New Attraction at Resorts World Sentosa

Dongguan, July 2024 — WeRide, a global leader in autonomous driving technology, announced the official launch of an intelligent sanitation project for municipal roads in DONGGUAN BINHAIWAN BAY AREA. This project indicates the inaugural demonstration of "autonomous driving + new energy" mechanized unmanned intelligent sanitation and marks Dongguan's first commercial deployment of L4-level Robosweepers on open roads. It is the global debut of the WeRide Robosweeper S1 in a large-scale application, representing a significant milestone in our journey.

The Dongguan Binhaiwan unmanned intelligent sanitation project covers nine urban roads with complex conditions. The unmanned sanitation fleet, consisting of the Robosweeper S6 and the Robosweeper S1, will perform unmanned sanitation operations on key routes such as Binhaiwan Avenue (from Donghai Road to Xinyi section), Dongwan Avenue (from Fuhai Road to Donghai Road section), Zhenhai Road, Xinghai Road, and Zhonghai Road. The operation covers various scenarios including motorways, non-motorized lanes, sidewalks, safety islands, and bridge surfaces, with a service area exceeding 860,000 square meters.

Beijing, June 27th, 2024 -- WeRide officially received the permit to conduct Robotaxi pilot commercial opertaions on airtport highway from Beijing Intelligent Connected Vehicle Policy Pilot Zone (hereinafter referred to as “Pilot Zone”). WeRide's Robotaxi is approved to conduct fare-charging services between Beijing Daxing International Airport and the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area.

The L4 driverless minibus shuttle service at Roland-Garros transports passengers from the P2 parking lot (located on the outskirts of Bois de Boulogne) to Roland-Garros Stadium. After the matches, the L4 driverless minibus departs from Roland-Garros Stadium to either Auteuil Gate Square or returns to the P2 parking lot. The entire shuttle route is approximately 5-km long and takes about 12 minutes. VIPs and media can conveniently choose nearby stops to queue for boarding. And the operation time is from May 26th to June 9th, between 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM.

WeRide Robobus Makes an Appearance at BEYOND Expo 2024, Showcasing Cutting-Edge Autonomous Driving Applications

On May 22, 2024, as a global leader in autonomous driving technology, WeRide received the license for fully driverless Robovan road testing in Guangzhou, with which Robovan was approved for fully driverless and freight testing in six districts—Baiyun, Huadu, Panyu, Huangpu, Nansha, Haizhu—and the entire Nansha area, covering 797 test roads and 3,247 kilometers of two-way mileage.

This represents China’s first L4-level fully driverless remote testing license for autonomous freight vehicles operating on open urban roads, as well as the country's first 24/7 self-driving package delivery testing license. Prior to this, WeRide had launched commercial operations for its Robotaxi autonomous taxis and Robosweeper autonomous sanitation vehicles in Guangzhou. On December 30, 2023, WeRide, in collaboration with Guangzhou Bus Group, initiated the nation’s first commercial operation of Robobus. 


Now, with approval to conduct fully driverless remote testing and freight testing of the Robovan autonomous urban freight vehicle, WeRide's commercial potential in the smart freight sector is significantly enhanced. This proactive policy will also drive the entire autonomous driving industry to explore and practice commercial applications in smart freight scenarios.

Looking ahead, WeRide will collaborate with more partners to create a new ecosystem for intra-city freight transportation, combining "autonomous driving technology companies + vehicle manufacturers + scenario partners", to accelerate the application and deployment of autonomous driving technology in the logistics industry, and to provide global industry users with efficient, economical, and convenient smart freight services.

A First in China: WeRide's Robovan Granted Approval for Fully Driverless Public Road Testing in Guangzhou

Recently, the Beijing High-Level Autonomous Driving Office announced the testing roads and areas for autonomous vehicles within the Policy Pilot Zone, specifying the range from the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA) to Beijing South Railway Station. WeRide is among the first group of companies approved to conduct autonomous driving tests within this range. This initiative marks Beijing's first autonomous driving test at a high-speed railway station and the first test connecting the BDA with a high-speed railway station in the city's core urban area.

Beijing South Railway Station integrates five modes of transportation: railways, subways, urban railways, buses, and taxis. It covers multiple transportation hub cities, has a high daily passenger flow, and features smart parking, making it well-suited for the deployment of autonomous driving. After comprehensive consideration by multiple management units, two autonomous driving test routes were established, with bidirectional travel distances of 32 kilometers and 58.6 kilometers, respectively. 

These routes pass through Boda Road - South Fourth Ring Road - Majiabao West Road, South Fifth Ring Road - Jingkai Expressway - South Third Ring Road and its auxiliary road, reaching Beijing South Railway Station via Kaiyang Road. A 2.2 square kilometer test support area was designated around the station, and dedicated parking spaces for autonomous vehicles were arranged in the multi-story parking garage at Beijing South Railway Station.

Approved to conduct autonomous driving tests between the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area and Beijing South Railway Station, WeRide's Robotaxi officially enters Beijing's core urban area, laying a solid foundation for further expanding its commercial deployment scenarios and scope.

Additionally, as the technology company with the most comprehensive range of autonomous driving products and application scenarios in Beijing, WeRide has achieved a series of breakthroughs in the past year. Besides being approved to conduct commercial pilot services for fully driverless vehicles and highway scenario demonstrations, WeRide has launched Beijing's first Level 4 driverless sanitation project. The company also introduced Level 4 Robobus services, connecting the three major cultural building complexes of Beijing's sub-center with the adjacent subway stations.

Beijing plans to gradually open autonomous driving application scenarios at five major railway hub stations: Beijing South Railway Station, Fengtai Railway Station, Chaoyang Railway Station, Qinghe Railway Station, and the Beijing Sub-center Railway Station, as well as at Daxing International Airport and Capital International Airport. WeRide will actively participate in these initiatives, gradually providing more Beijing residents and travelers with comfortable, efficient, convenient, and safe autonomous driving travel options.

On May 15, the global leading automobile manufacturer Renault Group officially announced its future autonomous driving strategy, with WeRide deeply involved in its exploration of low-carbon public transit. To meet various demands in different scenarios, WeRide Robosweeper S1 offers three configuration versions: Air, Pro, and Max, comprehensively catering to the needs of diverse users and environments. With a compact length of only 2570mm (excluding brushes) and a minimum turning radius of 2700mm (outer dimension), it features a 400L water tank and a 240L garbage bin. With a single charge, it can operate on an area of up to 120,000m². WeRide Robosweeper S1 can be effortlessly deployed in scenes such as parks, sidewalks, greenways, non-motorized lanes, delivering efficient and high-quality unmanned sweeping and dust suppression services.
