On March 3rd, in response to the varied travel needs of visitors to the three major cultural buildings in the Beijing Urban Sub-center, Beijing initiated a trial operation of an autonomous loop shuttle service. WeRide was entrusted with the responsibility of executing this project. Passengers can enjoy free rides on WeRide Robobus, shuttling between the City Green Heart Forest Park, Haojiafu Subway Station, and the three major cultural buildings. This marks the first L4-level automatic driving minibus passenger shuttle service connecting urban scenic clusters with adjacent subway stations in Beijing, while it also represents the first integration of the city's major bus system with autonomous driving microcirculation minibusses, serving as a milestone in public transportation services.

The three major cultural buildings in Beijing's Urban Sub-center-the Beijing Art Center, Beijing City Library, and Beijing Grand Canal Museum-are large exhibition halls nestled within the City Green Heart Forest Park, serving as the "cultural granary," "forest library," and "canal boat" respectively. They offer high-quality cultural experiences for residents and visitors from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, quickly becoming highly attractive new cultural icons in the capital. In alignment with these cultural landmarks and surrounding transportation hubs, WeRide has initiated the operation of two circular experience routes by Robobus. One route shuttles between the P12 parking lot of the City Green Heart Forest Park and the Beijing City Library, while the other connects the Haojiafu subway station with the Beijing City Library. These routes deliver efficient, convenient, safe, and stylish travel services for residents and visitors, enabling them to commute swiftly between attractions.

The WeRide Robobus is the world's first mass-produced autonomous minibus designed specifically for urban open roads. It has been deployed for testing and operations in nearly 30 cities worldwide, including Beijing, Guangzhou, Wuxi, Abu Dhabi, and Singapore. The vehicle adopts a fully driverless design without a driver's cabin and is equipped with WeRide's self-developed full-stack software and hardware solutions. Currently, WeRide has deployed multiple mature and refined autonomous driving products in Beijing. From the end of 2023 to the beginning of 2024, WeRide Robotaxi successively obtained approval to conduct commercial pilot charging in urban scenes and passenger demonstration applications in high-speed scenes in Beijing. Meanwhile, the Robosweeper officially landed in Beijing's first L4-level unmanned driving sanitation commercial project. Recently, WeRide has obtained the pilot notification for a high-speed road passenger demonstration application in the Beijing high-level autonomous driving demonstration zone (hereinafter referred to as the "demonstration zone"). Its autonomous driving service vehicles (Robotaxis) have been authorized to conduct passenger demonstration activities between Beijing Daxing International Airport Terminal and the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area. Since obtaining the qualification for high-speed road testing in the demonstration zone on September 27, 2023, WeRide achieved the pilot stage of high-speed road passenger demonstration within just 4 months. This rapid progression sets an industry record for the industry's 'fastest removal of license plates,' fully demonstrating WeRide's profound technological accumulation.

After the high-speed self-driving shuttle service is open to the public, travelers and citizens can book a WeRide Robotaxi through the WeRide Go App, and choose to travel between nearly 300 pick-up and drop-off points in Beijing's Jingkai District and the Daxing Airport Terminal. The journey covers a number of urban and high-speed road scenes, including a high-speed scene of about 40 kilometers, in which the vehicle can automatically complete a series of actions such as circling ramps and passing through high-speed toll booths.

After the vehicle arrives at the designated pick-up point, passengers and city residents can unlock the doors using the WeRide Go App, take their seats, fasten their seatbelts, and upon pressing the 'Depart' button on the screen, and then enjoy comfortable, safe, and efficient autonomous driving travel services.

Authorized to launch a pilot program for integrated passenger demonstration applications connecting urban roads with highways means that the reliability of WeRide's autonomous driving technology in high-speed scenarios has been fully verified, and the company has taken a key step towards commercialized operation in high-speed scenarios. Prior to this, in November 2023, WeRide was approved to carry out purely unmanned Robotaxi commercial operation charges in Beijing, which has opened up the automatic driving business model for the net cab scenario and further enhanced the company's self-blood-supporting ability. Recently, WeRide's autonomous sanitation vehicle (referred to as "WeRide Robosweeper") officially commenced operations in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone. It conducts in-depth sanitation cleaning services, covering key road sections in the core area, east area, and south area of the development zone. Since September 2020, with the core in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone, Beijing has initiated the construction of the world's first comprehensive vehicle-road-cloud integrated high-level autonomous driving demonstration area. After three years of development, it has achieved full coverage of intelligent connected roads spanning 160 square kilometers and a dedicated smart city network. Recently, the results of the first "2023 Forbes China Top30 Globalization Innovators Selection" were announced, and WeRide successfully made it into the list. As the sole representative from the self-driving industry on the list, WeRide stands out as the only technology company globally that holds self-driving licenses in China, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and Singapore simultaneously.

In 2021, WeRide officially initiated its first move into the Middle East market. In November of the same year, WeRide, in collaboration with partner Bayanat, launched Robotaxi services in the United Arab Emirates, providing a new travel experience for citizens of Abu Dhabi's Yas Island and Saadiyat Island. Over the next two years, they served more than 20,000 orders.

In March 2023, WeRide officially entered the China-UAE Industrial Capacity Cooperation Demonstration Park, established a local team, and accelerated the commercialization process. In July 2023, the Prime Minister of the UAE personally announced the approval of the first autonomous driving road test license and awarded it to WeRide. In the frigid January weather at the Qinghai Agricultural and Forestry Livestock Commodity Trading Center in Haidong City, Qinghai Province, staff were busy packing boxes. Boxes of hand-pulled dried Tibetan yak meat, yak milk beads, barley cakes, and other characteristic agricultural and pastoral products were being packed and prepared for shipment. Within three days, these unique items with distinctive characteristics of Haidong will reach Wuxi, Jiangsu, where they will be available for purchase on the "Checheng Zhilian" applet. Additionally, some of these products will show on the WeRide Robobus for simultaneous display.

This "East-to-West Delivery" journey across the mountains and rivers of our homeland stemmed from the joint initiative of WeRide and Wuxi Checheng Zhilian Technology Co., Ltd. ("Checheng Zhilian") in launching the "Technology Assistance for Rural Revitalization" activity. In March 2023, the two parties cooperated to deploy dozens of autonomous driving Robobuses in Wuxi Economic Development Zone, creating the largest commercialized micro-circulation public transportation system in the country.

Currently, the two parties have set 10 operating routes, serving high-traffic areas such as key colleges and universities, enterprises and institutions, core residential areas, large shopping malls, and scenic spots in Wuxi Economic Development Zone. Up to now, WeRide Robobus has accumulated nearly 50,000 passenger trips in Wuxi. Its extensive coverage and robust customer base have greatly enhanced the effectiveness of the "Technology Assistance for Rural Revitalization" activity. WeRide Robobus has evolved beyond a simple micro-circulation public transportation connection tool into a "kiosk" for poverty alleviation and rural assistance.

It is reported that WeRide and Checheng Zhilian have previously listed seven high-nutrition, helpful for increasing income in pastoral areas, characteristic agricultural and pastoral products such as hand-pulled dried Tibetan yak meat and yak milk beads.

The "Technology Assistance for Rural Revitalization" activity is an important act of goodwill by WeRide and Checheng Zhilian to practice "Technology Towards Goodness". It has broadened the market path for assisting characteristic agricultural and pastoral product areas and provided new channels for increasing income for the targeted poverty alleviation population. Technology Empowers Agriculture: WeRide Robobus Evolves into a "kiosk" for Qinghai Agricultural and Pastoral Products

On December 30th, WeRide, in collaboration with Guangzhou Bus Group, officially launched commercial fee-based autonomous minibus services. The two parties obtained the qualification for the demonstration and application of intelligent connected vehicles in Huangpu District, Guangzhou, on December 21st, and were granted permission to conduct commercial fee-based operations of autonomous microcirculation buses (Robobus). This marks the first nationwide commercial operation license for pre-installed mass-produced Robobus!

The routes involved in this commercial demonstration application include Bio Island Line 1, Bio Island Line 2, Knowledge City Yongjingwan Convenience Line, Guangzhou Tower Line, and Pazhou Loop. In addition to the 5 autonomous driving convenience lines that have already undergone passenger testing, there will be groundbreaking openings for the autonomous bus BRT route between BRT Xiayuan Station and BRT Wenyuan Station (Subway Shuanggang Station), as well as night routes for Bio Island Line 1, Bio Island Line 2. 

Citizens can board directly by swiping their metro card Yangcheng Tong  (supporting Yangcheng Tong payment, mobile QR code payment, NFC payment; as the route is a convenience line, card swiping does not participate in public transportation ticket discounts). One person per seat, standing is not allowed, and minors are allowed to ride accompanied by guardians. Night routes will be available on Bio Island Line 1 and Bio Island Line 2. During the trial operation period, no charges will be incurred, and citizens who want to take the night routes can directly pre-book through the "Smart Minibus" applet on WeChat.

Securing the commercial demonstration application license for Robobus and officially entering the fee-based operational stage signifies that Robobus has stepped into the large-scale commercial deployment. This significant milestone is backed by WeRide's nearly two years of operational accumulation in Guangzhou. Guangzhou, being the first in the country to establish a relatively complete intelligent connected vehicle testing and application system, along with the "1+1+2+7" autonomous driving commercial demonstration operation policy system, has accumulated a wealth of pilot demonstration experience. As one of the first intelligent connected vehicle road test pilot areas in Guangzhou, Huangpu District has consistently played a leading role and locomotive in the high-quality development of intelligent connected vehicles. The First Nationwide! WeRide Approved for Fee-Based Autonomous Minibus Operations in Guangzhou

Singapore, 11th Dec, 2023 -- WeRide, a leading global Level 4 autonomous driving technology company, officially announced that it has successfully obtained the Milestone Testing Regime Level 1 License for Autonomous Vehicles (AV) on Public Roads (referred to as "M1 License") and the T1 Assessment License for AVs on Public Paths (referred to as "T1 License") from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore. With these licenses, **WeRide's Robobus will be able to conduct tests on a larger scale on public roads in Singapore**, covering important areas such as One North and the National University of Singapore.

With this achievement, **WeRide becomes the first and, to date, the only technology company globally to simultaneously hold autonomous driving permits in China, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and Singapore**.

It is reported that the conditions for obtaining the M1 License in Singapore are extremely stringent. The assessment covers multiple dimensions, including basic autonomous driving functions, static obstacle recognition, dynamic obstacle avoidance, redundancy in vehicle control by safety driver, overall vehicle safety performance, and more. Vehicles must accurately and flawlessly complete the mentioned tasks within test facilities that highly replicate the urban road traffic scenarios in Singapore. Additionally, the Singapore authorities have exceptionally high safety requirements, making this license highly prestigious.

Over the past decade, Singapore has experienced a staggering 66% increase in total domestic travel, leading to persistent challenges for the local government in terms of road network congestion and parking issues. Additionally, more than 30% of Singapore's urban transportation workforce is over 50 years old, indicating a rapidly aging population.

Looking back at the year 2023, WeRide has made remarkable progress both domestically and internationally. On July 3rd, after nearly two years of dedicated efforts of operating Robotaxi fleet in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), **WeRide was granted the first autonomous driving license in the UAE, announced by the UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum**. This is the first national-level autonomous driving license in the Middle East and even globally. It signifies that all of WeRide's autonomous driving vehicles can undergo road tests and operations on public roads throughout the entire UAE.

On November 17th, WeRide received the notice to launch a commercial operation of fully driverless Robotaxi from Beijing Intelligent Connected Vehicle Policy Piolt Zone, which is called “driverless inside the vehicle and remote monitoring outside the vehicle" stage. This means **WeRide can provide a fare-charing service of Robotaxis with no safety driver on board to the public in Yizhuang, Beijing**. This marks a significant acceleration in the company's large-scale commercialization.

A New Milestone! WeRide Obtained the Singapore M1 and T1 Autonomous Vehicles Licenses

During the discussion and exchange session, Ambassador FLOR mentioned that Germany is currently facing the problems of aging labor force and labor shortage in areas such as public transportation, environment sanitation, and intra-city delivery. She acknowledged that WeRide's autonomous driving technology and products are conducive to alleviating and solving these problems. Tony Han, the founder and CEO of WeRide, highly agreed with this and shared his views. In April 2023, the full stack advanced driving assistance solution jointly developed by WeRide and Bosch was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show, fully demonstrating the technical advantages of both parties. It can provide advanced driving functions, integrated driving and parking functions, and basic auxiliary driving functions such as driving safety, comfort, and lighting. In addition, the computing platform with high computing power supports "shadow mode" closed-loop data iteration, continuously improving product performance.


WeRide established a branch in Stuttgart, Germany at the beginning of 2023, and formed a local team to actively promote cooperation with local governments and enterprises. Beijing, November 17, 2023 -- WeRide received the notice to launch a commercial pilot operation of fully driverless Robotaxi from Beijing Intelligent Connected Vehicle Policy Piolt Zone (hereinafter referred to as “Pilot Zone”), which is called “driverless inside the vehicle and remote monitoring outside the vehicle" stage. This means WeRide can now provide a charging service of fully driverless Robotaxis to the public in Yizhuang, Beijing.   

Since being approved to carry out driverless road test in the Pilot Zone in October 2022, WeRide has gradually got the permits to carry out “unmanned remote stage” demonstration application, high-speed road testing to and back from the airport, and now the commercial pilot operation, marking a leading development speed in the autonomous driving industry.

After the service is open to the public, citizens can hail a WeRide's Robotaxi within the designated area via WeRide Go App and view the estimated cost in real time. The Robotaxis will arrive at the designated pick-up point, and passengers need to verify their identity by scanning the QR code before getting in the car. The service scope of WeRide's Robotaxis covers popular destinations such as core subway stations, residential areas, key business districts, office and industrial parks, etc., with a total of 242 pick-up and drop-off stops. One Robotaxi can serve 1-3 passengers at a time, operating from 9:00 am to 17:00 pm.

WeRide has always been a leader in the area of Robotaxi. In November 2018, WeRide, in collaboration with Guangzhou Baiyun Taxi Group, launched China's first Robotaxi. In November 2019, WeRide launched the nation's first commercial Robotaxi service in Guangzhou. To date, WeRide has completed more than 1,400 days of commercial Robotaxi operation without any proactive accidents.

WeRide's rich experience on Robotaxi operation has also been applied overseas, providing a strong foundation for the company's global expansion. In November 2021, WeRide and its UAE partner Bayanat launched Robotaxi services on Yas Island and Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, bringing a new travel experience to local citizens and tourists. On November 15, as the first self-driving fleet to land in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, WeRide's Robotaxis successfully completed public trial operations for a month and a half. Currently, the Ordos New Energy Intelligent and Connected Transportation Demonstration Zone Project has opened 42 stops in Kangbashi District. And the operation hours are from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 14:30 p.m.-17:00 p.m. From Monday to Friday. In its trial operations, WeRide's Robotaxis finished over 1,000 trips for over 2,000 passengers in the city.
